Barend BUYS from Braunschweig, Germany arruived at the Cape 9 January 1715, on the ship Risdam as a soldier.
He first worked as a stablehand for teh Company. On 26 November 1718 he signed a contarct to work as a hand for Jacobus van den Heijden.
He married in Cape Town on 12 October 1721 to the fifteen year old Alida van den BERG, whose parents were Jacobus van den Berg and Jacomina Carteniers.
On 3 February 1722 he optained the rental farm Witteklip north of Saldanha Bay. On 8 October 1722 he baught the farm Blomkool from Andries Krugel. He sold the farm on 2 July 1725 to Jacob Coetzer.
Barend Buys dies about 1743.
