"A broad Norfolk farmer; very raw" (Isobel Slatter).
!RESIDENCE: High House Farm, Wreningham. (Isobel Bowden (Slatter) went there
for holidays when she was young).
After his wife Maud (Horne) died, Burton's sister Minnie looked after the
family. Burton re-married to "Froggie".
!CENSUS: 1891. Wreningham. Age 9, with family: father Dennis W Long, farmer
age 39 born Wreningham; mother Elizabeth, age 39 born Bunwell; other children
Elizabeth (18), William J (19), Ada M (11), Minnie M (2), Dennis H (1 month),
all born Wreningham.
Also at Wreningham at census time 1861 to 1891 were William Long and his
family. Father William (75 in 1891) born Mulbarton, farmer of 40 acres; mother
Charlotte (67 in 1891) born Fundenhall. Children Alfred (17 in 1861, then gone),
a carter; William (9 in 1861, 19 in 1871 - carpenters prentice- absent
thereafter); John (6 in 1861, also there 1871); Albert (1 in 1861, also there
1871 and 1881); "Lorrey" or Agnes (6 in 1871, there in 1881 and 1891 as Agnes
Andrews), Berney (1 in 1871, there in 1881 and 1891).
This family were at Top Row, Wreningham. It is possible that their son William
is Dennis W Long, Burton's father. Certainly no Dennis Long at all in
Wreningham 1861.
