An alleged deserter

At Hartlepool police court to-day, Cornelius Fitzmaurice (43), bookbinder, 21 high street, was charged with being a deserter from the 3rd Durham militia. inspector peart gave evidence. - Fitzmaurice said he had received no warrant to join, and had written making enquiries. - he was remanded.

He would have been about 27 years old so not sure if the 43 is an age or a transcription error or if it refers to some other Cornelius Fitzmaurice.

An alleged deserter

Cornelius Fitzmaurice, who on Monday was brought before Hartlepool magistrates on a charge of being a deserter from the Durham militia, was this morning discharged. He rejoins the militia to-day.
