Zella FITZMAURICE 19 F London, Middlesex, EnglandBorn of Irish parents.
Played the banjo and did step dancing in London music halls.
1890 emigrated to South Africa - Madeleine Ellis reserch.
Builder and diamond prospector went to South Africa shortly before the Anglo-Boer War and was a bicycle dispatch rider for the British.
According to Madeleine Ellis he was awarded the Queen's South Africa Medal 1899-1902 with Clasp DEFENCE OF KIMBERLEY but no oficial record confirms this. Madeleine Ellis claimed to have the medal but that it was stolen and so she bought another one and had his name engraved on it. I think she was deluded.
Later became a photographer and had a business "The Ideal Studio" at 39 Monument Rd. Bloemfontein.
He and his son Albert built the family home at the same address.
Had 13 children (7 died young)
